Complex query on Ceilometer stats & project-specific meters

This session will include the following subject(s):

Complex query support for statistics:

The rich query functionality, implemented by the Complex filter expressions in API queries blueprint, is available for Samples, Alarms and Alarm History, however this functionality is applicable for Statistics as well. The current implementation supports selectable parametrized aggregate functions (e.g. cardinality) with at most a single parameter per function. The idea is to provide the possibility of using the complex query functionality for Statistics and use the flexibility of the JSON representation of the request body for supporting the definition of multiple parameters for a selectable aggregate. This extension will also support all the functions that are available via the /meters endpoint with simple query.

The goal of this session is to discuss the API design and the supported features in a statistics request.

Project-based data collection configuration:

Ceilometer now supports only a global configuration for pipelines, which means that the parameters set for meters are applicable for all projects/tenants. There would be several advantages of provide the possibility to configure the data collection mechanism for projects/tenants, like storing as much data as necessary and also to make Ceilometer more flexible related to the customer needs.

Currently only the virtual resources are aware of the corresponding project, therefore this configuration improvement will be implemented first for the meters of virtual resources. The next step would be to extend the functionality also to the physical/project-less resources.
